Manchester City’s Champions League exit was already painful. However, fans still found something else to talk about. And surprisingly, it had nothing to do with tactics or performances.

City lost both legs against Real Madrid. A 3-0 defeat in Spain left them with a mountain to climb. Then, a 2-1 loss at the Etihad confirmed their exit from the competition.

So, naturally, frustration was high among fans, and attention quickly shifted elsewhere. This time, it was Pep Guardiola’s outfit. The City manager turned up in smart trousers and shoes.

But instead of his usual sharp look, he paired it with a loose flannel shirt. It stood out immediately, especially when compared to the black bomber jacket he wore in the first leg.

Fans noticed this, and they did not take the time to react to it. They filled Social media with jokes. Many even linked it to the club’s ongoing financial case. One fan wrote: “116 now.”

Another said they knew City were not serious the moment they saw the outfit. Others went further, calling the look “a disgrace.”

One even claimed the outfit signalled there would be no comeback. Still, not everyone disagreed, as a few fans actually liked the more relaxed style.

Meanwhile, the bigger issues remain in the picture for the Citizens. Pep Guardiola’s side are still facing 115 charges for alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules.

The case has dragged on for more than two years without a final verdict. Also, on the pitch, things went wrong for Manchester City.

A red card for Bernardo Silva early in the game made the situation worse. Vinicius Jr converted the penalty and extended Real’s lead on aggregate.

Although Erling Haaland pulled one back, City never truly recovered from the early setback.
