Chelsea have identified the source behind recent dressing room leaks.
The issue came to light during their Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, when both starting line-ups were leaked hours before kick-off across the two legs.
Naturally, it raised concerns inside the club. Reports in France even revealed Wesley Fofana’s absence before the second leg.
That only increased pressure, especially as Chelsea went on to lose 3-0 on the night and 8-2 on aggregate.
As a result, the Blues launched an internal investigation. Now, Liam Rosenior has confirmed that they have resolved the situation.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash with Everton, he revealed that the club have identified the individual responsible for those leaks. However, he also played down the severity. Rosenior said:
“We know who it was. It’s not come from any place of malicious intent to me or the team. We’ve dealt with the situation.”
So, Chelsea have drawn a line under the matter. At the same time, the manager provided updates on injuries within the squad.
Trevoh Chalobah will be out for around six weeks after picking up a problem following the PSG match.
Meanwhile, captain Reece James is also dealing with a hamstring issue, although it is not considered serious. Also, there are further concerns for Chelsea’s squad.
Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has undergone a scan on a groin injury, while Levi Colwill continues his recovery process and is still some way from returning.
All of this comes during a difficult period. Chelsea lost 1-0 to Newcastle last weekend and currently sit sixth in the table.
The race for Champions League qualification remains tight, with little margin for error. Looking ahead, Rosenior knows the challenge. He said:
“Every manager goes through difficult weeks. We need to find a way to fight at Everton and come through a difficult period.”
Chelsea must win against Everton this weekend. Otherwise, pressure on Rosenior will continue to rise.
