Liverpool could be heading towards another big change this summer. The pressure has been building around the future of Arne Slot.
The Dutch manager started well in his first season by winning the Premier League. However, things have not gone as smoothly this time around.
So, questions are now being asked about the future. The club may consider appointing a new manager in the summer.
And, Xabi Alonso has become the favourite candidate to replace Arne Slot since he left his role at Real Madrid.
There is growing talk that discussions between Alonso and Liverpool hierarchy have already taken place. So, the situation could develop quickly.
According to BILD, there is concrete interest in Alonso from Liverpool. That has only increased speculation around a managerial change.
Now, the potential new boss has a clear idea of the targets he wants to bring to Liverpool. Alonso wants to strengthen the attacking department, with Mohamed Salah announcing his departure.
So, bringing in a young and creative player has become a priority. According to Fichajes, Xabi Alonso wants Liverpool to sign Arda Guler if he takes over at Anfield.
Guler has already proven himself at the highest level. He has delivered goals and assists consistently. Also, he has worked under Alonso at Real Madrid.
So, that relationship could play a crucial role. Liverpool believe they can offer him more minutes, and that could be key in convincing him to make the move.
However, Real Madrid are not willing to let him go easily. They still see him as an important part of their future.
So, if Xabi Alonso replaces Arne Slot next summer, this could quickly turn into a major transfer battle.
