Real Madrid have crashed out of the Champions League after losing at the hands of Bayern Munich. The Los Blancos suffered defeats in both legs.
Also, in La Liga, they are behind by nine points to Barcelona, who are leading the table. So, it seems that the Spanish giants will fail to secure a trophy this season as well.
Now, Real Madrid will have severe changes at the club by next season. And, the change could begin with the manager.
Madrid replaced Xabi Alonso with Alvaro Arbeloa. They hoped that the Spaniard would turn things around for them.
However, he has failed so far, and the Los Blancos are planning for another major change in the dugout with Arbeloa heading towards the exit door.
Now, according to Fabrice Hawkins, Real Madrid have already made a shortlist of targets they would like to sign next summer as the replacement for Arbeloa.
One of the first names on their list is Mauricio Pochettino. The current USA national team head coach will decide his future at the end of the World Cup.
The Argentine was the favourite to return to Tottenham Hotspur. However, the Spurs decided to sign Roberto De Zerbi.
Now, apart from Pochettino, Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Jurgen Klopp. The current football director of the Red Bull group doesn’t want to return to football management.
Also, Didier Deschamps, the current French national team coach, is one of the candidates to take over the role at Santiago Bernabeu.
With the most lucrative job in world football up for grabs, there will be plenty more names coming up on Real Madrid’s list of potential replacements for Alvaro Arbeloa.
