Some decisions get delayed for good reason.

When a player steps into an unfamiliar position and performs beyond all expectations, it changes the calculation entirely.

And it’s only now, that the conversation is starting up again.

Manchester City monitoring teenage star ahead of potential summer move

According to Sky Sports, Manchester City are closely keeping tabs on Feyenoord’s Givairo Read, with a possible move in the summer now under active consideration.

The 19-year-old has been catching the eye in the Eredivisie, and City aren’t the only ones watching.

Bayern Munich have also been tracking him in Germany, monitoring the situation too.

The context behind City’s interest matters here.

Matheus Nunes has been operating at right-back, performing well enough to delay any urgent action in that department for the best part of eighteen months.

His performances were the primary reason Manchester City stepped back from moves they were otherwise close to making.

They had a close look at Tino Livramento and were also interested in Wesley before he eventually signed for Roma.

Neither of those deals happened.

And while the right-back position still isn’t considered an absolute priority, it remains firmly on the agenda ahead of what could be a significant summer at the Etihad.

Read is currently sidelined through injury, but he’s expected to return within the next few weeks.

When he does, City will be watching closely.

At 19, representing the Netherlands at under-21 level, the profile is exactly the kind Manchester City have consistently targeted in recent windows.

The broader picture at City this summer is one of genuine transition.

However, Read is one piece of a much larger puzzle.

But the fact that City are monitoring him at all tells you the right-back search is very much alive.

Even if nothing is guaranteed to happen just yet.
