John Terry has addressed his future at Chelsea following Liam Rosenior’s sacking, with the club now entering another uncertain phase.
Chelsea dismissed Rosenior after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Brighton, which marked their fifth consecutive league loss without scoring.
The result left the Blues in a difficult position, sitting eighth in the table and at risk of missing out on European football.
As a result, the club have turned to academy coach Calum McFarlane, who will take charge on an interim basis while they search for a permanent manager.
That decision immediately raised questions about potential additions to the backroom staff. However, John Terry has now made his position clear.
Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok account, the former Chelsea captain confirmed that he has not been contacted about joining McFarlane’s coaching team. He said:
“I’m not sure what Calum’s backroom staff is going to look like. I’ve not had a call, I’ve not had a message.
“I will be continuing my role in the academy, I will be in the academy tomorrow, we’ve got a big couple of games coming up.
“But listen, we’ll all get behind Calum, he done a great job at Man City away previously, and we’ll get behind the boys.”
Terry currently works as a part-time consultant within Chelsea’s academy, where he has previously worked alongside McFarlane.
While he ruled out an immediate role with the first team, he also shared broader concerns about the club’s direction.
Chelsea have already seen two managerial changes this season following Enzo Maresca’s departure in January.
That instability has created further uncertainty as the club continue their search for a long-term appointment. Terry openly questioned the situation. He said:
“I sit here worrying tonight at what’s gonna happen with our football club.
“Because I’m looking at us needing a manager after the weekend, I’m not sure when ownership are gonna make their decision and bring a manager in…
“But is a real top manager going to come to Chelsea football club at the moment in the position we’re in?
“Can’t buy players, looking like we’re gonna have to sell potentially, and that will be our best players which is always tough.
“We’ll not be playing in European football, I hope I’m wrong on that, but yeah, really frustrated and worried more importantly.”
For now, John Terry will remain in his current role as Chelsea continue to search for stability.
