Real Madrid release official statement after Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni fight

The timing could hardly be worse for Real Madrid, with pressure already growing around the club during a difficult season.

Real Madrid are facing major tension behind the scenes ahead of their crucial El Clasico clash against Barcelona this weekend.

The match could decide the La Liga title race, with Barcelona needing only to avoid defeat to secure the title.

However, preparations inside the Real Madrid camp have reportedly been overshadowed by serious dressing room problems.

Reports from Spain earlier this week suggested there had already been friction between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni during training at Valdebebas.

The situation then escalated dramatically during another session, forcing club officials into emergency discussions behind closed doors.

The incident has now become one of the biggest talking points in Spanish football ahead of El Clasico.

As Transfer News Live reported earlier, the physical altercation between Valverde and Tchouameni became very serious.

That is why Real Madrid have officially opened disciplinary proceedings against both players. In an official statement, the club said:

“Real Madrid C. F. announces that, following the incidents that occurred this morning during the first team’s training session, it has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni.”

The club also confirmed that they will provide further updates once they finish internal procedures.

Also, Transfer News Live reported earlier that the altercation resulted in Valverde suffering a head injury after falling and striking a table during the incident.

Real Madrid later released another statement regarding the midfielder’s condition:

“After the tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a cranioencephalic trauma.”

The statement also confirmed that Valverde will need between 10 and 14 days of rest. That means the Uruguayan will miss the decisive clash against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

The timing could hardly be worse for Real Madrid, with pressure already growing around the club during a difficult season.
