Liverpool target £80m duo

Liverpool plan £80m double Monaco raid.

Some rebuilds are reactive.

Panic buying after winning the league.

Filling gaps, spending big without a clear plan.

What Liverpool appear to be planning this summer is something very different.

Liverpool plan £80m double Monaco raid

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are considering a double swoop for AS Monaco duo Maghnes Akliouche and Lamine Camara.

Two players who are almost certain to leave the Principality club this summer if their respective valuations are met.

The combined cost would sit in the region of £80 million.

Akliouche is the headline name.

The 24-year-old French international has been one of Ligue 1’s most creative forces over the past two seasons.

His departure from Monaco is a given, this summer.

Monaco have revised their position, and a fee of around €50 million is now considered enough to get the deal done.

And the Reds are prepared to meet that valuation.

Alongside Akliouche, L’Equipe report that Liverpool are also closely monitoring Lamine Camara.

The 22-year-old Senegalese midfielder has established himself as one of Monaco’s most important players since arriving from FC Metz two years ago.

Camara is valued at around €40 million.

Newcastle United also hold a long-standing interest in Camara.

The broader context of Liverpool’s summer is one of significant transformation.

With legends Salah and Robertson leaving, Mac Allister and Jones could also follow.

The club need volume as much as quality.

And targeting two players from the same club, is exactly the kind of smart thinking that defined their best recruitment windows under Jurgen Klopp.

Monaco’s final home game of the season is approaching.

For Akliouche and Camara, it could be their last.

And for Liverpool, their rebuild may be about to take a very significant step forward.
