Some seasons produce a clear winner before the votes are even cast.
The Premier League have confirmed their nominees for the 2025-26 Player of the Season.
Yet, the shortlist reflects exactly how competitive and unpredictable this campaign has been from start to finish.
Premier League Player of the Season nominees revealed
According to Sky Sports, eight players have been nominated for the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Season award.
The eight nominees are Bruno Fernandes, Gabriel, Morgan Gibbs-White, Erling Haaland, David Raya, Declan Rice, Antoine Semenyo and Igor Thiago.
However, Arsenal have three representatives, which speaks to the quality Mikel Arteta’s side have produced throughout the title challenge.
Raya has claimed the Golden Glove for the third successive season with 18 clean sheets.
Gabriel has been commanding at the heart of defence, having conceded just 26 goals all season, the lowest in the division.
Finally, Rice has been the driving force from midfield, as no outfield player has played more league minutes for the Gunners this season.
However, the favourite, statistically, is Bruno Fernandes.
The Manchester United captain has 19 assists in 33 Premier League appearances, one off the all-time seasonal record jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
He’s already won the FWA Footballer of the Year award.
Haaland makes the list for the third time in four seasons, leading the Golden Boot race with 26 goals.
He’s on course to become just the fourth player in Premier League history to win it three times.
However, the two surprise packages of the season also feature prominently.
Semenyo has 16 goals and four assists, winning February’s Player of the Month along the way.
Yet, if he takes the overall prize, he’d become only the second African player to do so after Salah.
Igor Thiago of Brentford has been perhaps the most remarkable story of the season.
22 Premier League goals, second only to Haaland, in his debut English top-flight campaign.
He won January’s Player of the Month and has dragged Brentford into genuine European contention almost single-handedly.
Gibbs-White rounds out the list.
13 goals and four assists for Nottingham Forest in a season that started under serious relegation pressure, winning April’s Player of the Month.
Fans have until 12pm BST on Monday May 18 to cast their votes.
