Liverpool’s season continues to spiral towards a disappointing finish after another painful defeat increased pressure on Arne Slot. The Reds suffered a 4-2 loss against Aston Villa on Friday night.

That result marked Liverpool’s 19th defeat of the campaign and intensified frustration among supporters before the final home game of the season.

Less than a year ago, Liverpool celebrated Premier League success. However, the mood around Anfield now looks completely different.

Questions have started emerging around the squad, the tactical direction of the team, and Slot’s long-term future at the club.

Mohamed Salah also added fuel to the growing tension after posting a strong statement on social media following the defeat.

The Egyptian forward appeared frustrated with Liverpool’s current style under Slot. Salah wrote:

“Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear.

“That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good.”

According to TEAMtalk, Salah’s comments alarmed Liverpool’s hierarchy and intensified internal discussions surrounding Slot’s future.

The report claims FSG’s head of football Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes are now holding serious conversations behind the scenes regarding the Dutch manager.

Liverpool reportedly still plan to conduct a full end-of-season review. However, TEAMtalk claim support for Slot has started weakening both inside the club and among supporters.

The report also states Liverpool already identified several possible replacements if they decide to make a managerial change this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique reportedly remains the dream target for the Anfield hierarchy. Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann also features on Liverpool’s shortlist.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness, and Al-Ahli coach Matthias Jaissle are also under consideration.
