After finishing second in the Turkish Super League for 4 years in a row, Fenerbahce want to go one step further.
They are building a squad that can fight for trophies and compete in Europe.
At the centre of this rebuild is a familiar figure, one who knows how to win.
Jose Mourinho has been instrumental as head coach for Fenerbahce last year, and his list of transfer targets is already in motion.
He wants experience, leadership, and players who can handle pressure.
He has sent a clear message to the club’s board.
His first priority is a right-sided player who brings both quality and character.
The name comes from Spain. He has played in Champions League finals, won titles with one of the world’s biggest clubs, Real Madrid, and is now at a point where he must decide his next move.
At 33, he remains a valuable asset. In the last season, he played more than 50 games under Carlo Ancelotti.
He scored goals, provided assists, and covered multiple roles.
His contract is running down. Talks in Madrid have slowed.
According to a Spanish source, Fenerbahce have now made contact to explore a possible deal for Lucas Vazquez.
They want to move quickly before other European clubs step in.
The player is open to a new experience, but only if the sporting plan matches his ambition.
The idea of working with Mourinho is said to be appealing.
The coach knows the Real Madrid environment well and could be the key to unlocking the move.
Fenerbahce believe this Lucas Vazquez transfer would send a strong message to the rest of Europe.
A player with title-winning pedigree could be a major statement under the Portuguese manager.
One of Real Madrid’s most trusted and versatile players in recent years, Lucas Vazquez could soon be pulling on the yellow shirt of Fenerbahce, if the offer is right and the project convinces him.
