Pressure continues growing around Arne Slot after Liverpool’s disappointing collapse during the second half of the season.
The Reds lost the Premier League title to Arsenal and now face serious uncertainty heading into the summer after tensions reportedly increased behind the scenes at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah’s recent public comments about Liverpool losing their aggressive attacking identity only intensified speculation surrounding Slot’s future.
As a result, Liverpool’s hierarchy have already started exploring possible alternatives in case the situation worsens further. Xabi Alonso was initially viewed as the dream candidate at Anfield.
However, Liverpool’s hopes completely disappeared after Chelsea moved quickly to secure the Spaniard earlier this summer.
Now, attention has shifted towards another manager currently making huge waves in the Premier League.
According to Footmercato, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has activated talks involving Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. The connection makes complete sense for Liverpool.
Hughes originally brought Iraola to Bournemouth during his time working at the club and remains a huge admirer of the Spanish coach.
Interestingly, Iraola already decided to leave Bournemouth this summer despite receiving strong offers to extend his contract. That decision immediately alerted several Premier League clubs.
Crystal Palace reportedly already contacted the 43-year-old manager, but Liverpool now appear ready to enter the race seriously.
The Spaniard guided Bournemouth towards an incredible sixth-place despite losing several important players during the season. For now, Liverpool have not officially decided to sack Arne Slot.
However, with uncertainty growing rapidly around Anfield, Iraola increasingly looks like the strongest candidate to potentially become the next Liverpool manager.
