Manchester City’s post-Pep Guardiola era is now beginning after the club reportedly finalised an agreement with their new manager.
Guardiola brought an emotional end to his legendary spell at the Etihad after winning six Premier League titles, one Champions League and multiple domestic trophies across a decade in Manchester.
His departure immediately forced City’s hierarchy into one of the biggest decisions in the club’s modern history. Several names appeared on the shortlist during recent months.
However, one candidate consistently remained ahead of the rest because of his close connection to Guardiola and his understanding of Manchester City’s football philosophy.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have completed an agreement with Enzo Maresca. The Italian reportedly signed a three-year contract running until 2029.
Maresca will also reportedly play a major role in Manchester City’s transfer strategy moving forward.
The appointment comes only months after the 46-year-old left Chelsea following a disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge.
Reports at the time suggested tensions developed between Maresca and Chelsea’s board during the final weeks before his exit. Even back then, he was strongly linked to Manchester City.
Maresca previously worked under Guardiola as part of City’s coaching staff and remains highly respected inside the club.
Now, after weeks of speculation, Manchester City appear ready to hand Enzo Maresca one of the biggest jobs in world football.
🚨 Enzo Maresca has already signed a three year deal as Manchester City new manager.
Agreement until June 2029 and new chapter to start soon at #MCFC, with Maresca fully involved in the transfer strategy.
