Mallorca are already planning for the future despite their relegation to the Segunda Division. The Spanish club are determined to secure an immediate return to La Liga.
Now, the club’s hierarchy remain convinced that the current project is moving in the right direction. Stability has become a major priority behind the scenes.
So, instead of changing direction again this summer, the club have chosen to continue building under the same leadership.
Martin Demichelis initially arrived at the club earlier this year on a short-term basis after Jagoba Arrasate left his role.
At that stage, Mallorca were sitting in 18th place and struggling badly defensively. However, the situation improved significantly in the following weeks.
The team produced several impressive performances and remained unbeaten during a crucial stretch late in the campaign.
That run also earned Demichelis the La Liga Manager of the Month award for April 2026 after a series of strong tactical displays against top opposition.
Now, Mallorca have officially confirmed that Demichelis has signed a new contract with the club until June 30, 2028.
The 45-year-old arrived in Spain carrying an outstanding reputation from both his playing and managerial career.
During his playing days, Demichelis established himself as a legendary figure at Bayern Munich.
The Argentine made 259 appearances for the German giants and won four Bundesliga titles alongside four DFB-Pokals.
He later moved to Manchester City, where he played 106 matches and helped the club win the Premier League title during the 2013-14 season.
Meanwhile, Demichelis also represented Argentina 51 times internationally and started in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final. Also, his coaching career has also progressed rapidly.
After managing Bayern Munich II, he guided River Plate to the 2023 Primera División title as well as the Supercopa Argentina and Trofeo de Campeones.
The Argentine also enjoyed a respectable spell at CF Monterrey before eventually arriving at Mallorca earlier this year.
Now, with his future secured, Demichelis will focus entirely on leading Mallorca back to La Liga at the first attempt.
