Liverpool are preparing for a major rebuild this summer. However, the focus is not only on new signings. The club are also entering a completely new managerial era at Anfield.
The Reds recently confirmed the appointment of Andoni Iraola. The Spaniard has replaced Arne Slot after leaving Bournemouth this summer.
Iraola signed a two-year contract with Liverpool following an impressive spell with the Cherries. Liverpool still secured Champions League qualification during the 2025-2026 campaign.
However, the season fell below expectations overall. Therefore, changes are now expected across the squad ahead of the new campaign.
Meanwhile, Iraola arrives with a strong reputation after guiding Bournemouth into Europe. The Spaniard often worked with smaller squads on the south coast.
However, he still managed to build an aggressive and competitive side despite regularly losing important players. That approach now gives Liverpool an interesting direction in the market.
Iraola knows several Bournemouth players extremely well, so attention has naturally shifted towards potential reunions at Anfield.
According to the i Paper, Liverpool are showing interest in Bournemouth forward Rayan. Iraola was one of the driving forces behind bringing the player to Bournemouth in January.
The new Liverpool manager is understood to be a huge admirer of the attacker. But Bournemouth remain in a strong position because Rayan has a £130 million release clause in his contract.
Liverpool are also holding talks with RB Leipzig regarding Yan Diomande. That situation could complicate Liverpool’s plans.
Investing more than £100 million on two players operating in similar roles may not make complete sense financially.
Meanwhile, there is also a feeling that Liverpool may have moved too late in the pursuit of Rayan. As things stand, Diomande could become the priority signing instead.
Liverpool are looking for long-term attacking solutions, especially after Mohamed Salah’s departure. However, Iraola’s admiration for Rayan could still keep the Bournemouth star firmly on Liverpool’s radar throughout the summer.
