Tottenham Hotspur pull out of signing top target

Spurs believe they can finally complete that transfer.

Tottenham Hotspur have moved aggressively in the transfer market since appointing Roberto De Zerbi. However, the club have now decided to step away from one of their major attacking targets.

Spurs narrowly avoided relegation last season after beating Everton 1-0 on the final day of the campaign.

That result secured Premier League survival and immediately pushed the club towards a huge summer rebuild.

De Zerbi now wants significant improvements across the squad before the new season begins.

Tottenham already completed the signing of Andy Robertson, while Marcos Senesi is also expected to arrive shortly to strengthen the defence.

Meanwhile, the club continue pushing for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke despite seeing two bids rejected. Spurs also agreed personal terms with the Dutch defender as negotiations continue.

Manchester City winger Savinho also remains close to joining the club. However, Tottenham Hotspur have now abandoned another attacking move.

According to Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof, Tottenham’s pursuit of West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville is now considered “off.”

Spurs initially identified Summerville as an important attacking target because several forwards face uncertain futures at the club. Randal Kolo Muani’s loan spell expired, while Richarlison could also leave permanently this summer.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are all recovering from long-term knee injuries.

Tottenham previously looked ready to submit a concrete offer for Summerville after emerging as frontrunners in the race for his signature.

The Netherlands international still earned a World Cup call-up despite West Ham suffering relegation to the Championship.

However, Savinho’s expected arrival has now changed Tottenham’s plans significantly.

Savinho already stood high on Tottenham’s shortlist last summer before Manchester City blocked a move and convinced the Brazilian to sign a new contract.

Now, Spurs believe they can finally complete that transfer, which has reduced the need to pursue Summerville at the same time.
