It has already been a busy first transfer window for new Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.

With a transfer window alongside competing in the FIFA Club World Cup, Madrid have still managed to be active behind the scenes.

Two players have already made the move from the Premier League to Madrid this summer.

Madrid paid Bournemouth’s £50 million release clause for Spanish centre-back Dean Hujsen.

They also paid Liverpool £10 million to allow pending free agent Trent Alexander-Arnold to finish his contract early.

There have also been plenty of outgoings.

Centre-back Jesús Vallejo left the club after the expiration of his contract.

Versatile right-back and winger Lucas Vázquez, is to also depart the club.

The Madrid youth product leaves after 401 appearances and 24 trophies.

Luka Modrić has also left, after a glittering career at Madrid that spanned 13 seasons.

He departs as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation, with trophies galore and a Ballon d’Or.

This has left Alonso and the board with a lot of thinking to do in the summer.

Star attacker Rodrygo has also been strongly linked with a move away, which would be detrimental to their attack.

In an era where players leave big clubs to go to Madrid, it would be fascinating if a young player with all the talent in the world decides to leave the club.

However, they look like they could be set to keep one of their key players.
