Manchester City prepare blockbuster move for Tottenham Hotspur star

Manchester City are continuing plans for a huge summer rebuild following the end of Pep Guardiola’s era at the Etihad Stadium.

The club already identified several priority positions ahead of the new season as they prepare for a fresh chapter under Enzo Maresca.

City want reinforcements at right-back, central midfield and on the wing. Meanwhile, more positions could become priorities depending on departures later in the transfer window.

The Premier League giants are also preparing a second move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. However, Manchester City are now closely monitoring one of Tottenham Hotspur’s most important players.

According to The Athletic, City have been keeping tabs on Tottenham defender Pedro Porro as they assess right-back targets for the summer.

The Spanish defender developed into one of Tottenham’s key players since arriving from Sporting CP. Porro also produced strong numbers during the 2025-26 Premier League season.

The defender made 26 league starts and registered two assists. He also recorded 52 shots across the campaign.

Tottenham remain in a strong negotiating position because Porro still has a contract running until 2028. That long-term deal means Spurs face no pressure to sell the defender cheaply this summer.

The club continue searching for another winger and could also strengthen in goal or at left-back later in the window.

Manchester City clearly want more than minor adjustments ahead of next season. Instead, the club appear focused on building the foundations for another long-term era of success.

Despite City’s interest, Tottenham will resist strongly if formal talks begin for Porro. Premier League clubs rarely allow key players to leave cheaply to direct rivals, especially during major rebuilds.

City still view Porro as an attractive option. However, they will likely remain cautious about paying an inflated fee for the defender.
