2023/24 was a memorable season for Bayer Leverkusen fans.
Had they beaten Atalanta in the UEFA Europa League final, they would have won the treble whilst unbeaten.
It took them until the final in May to lose their first game, going down 3-0 to Atalanta.
They still managed to finish second in the Bundesliga table during the 2024/25 campaign but this summer, there has been an exodus.
Manager Xabi Alonso departed for Real Madrid this summer, after an impressive three seasons in charge.
Club captain Jonathan Tah did not renew his contract and is now a Bayern Munich player.
Right-back Jeremie Frimpong and attacker Florian Wirtz have both joined Liverpool, who look set to allow one of their players to go the other way.
£30m Premier League defender to join Erik ten Hag in the Bundesliga
It has been reported that Liverpool centre-back Jarrell Quansah has agreed a move to Bundesliga side Leverkusen.
He teams up with Erik ten Hag, who was hired as manager earlier this summer as the replacement for Alonso.
The 22-year old broke through under Jürgen Klopp and made 33 appearances in the 2023/24 season across all competitions and scored three times. This includes the last ever goal of the German manager’s time in charge.
Under new manager Arne Slot, he found opportunities limited, with just six games with more than 45 minutes played.
Two of these six came when Liverpool had already sealed the Premier League title and were rotating players.
With a new team and new league in the Bundesliga, Quansah is now playing in a league that has seen some of the best players in the world develop.
Whether this is Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Robert Lewandowski or Mats Hummels, the Bundesliga is well known for being a great place for someone to improve as a player.
Quansah will relish the chance to start a new challenge and Leverkusen have a player that could be with them for several years to come.
🚨 Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are in contact to get Jarell Quansah deal done with final details being sorted.
