Manchester City experienced a season of significant change during the 2025-26 campaign.
Despite falling short in the Premier League title race and suffering a Champions League round-of-16 exit against Real Madrid, City still collected silverware.
Pep Guardiola’s side secured both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup before the legendary manager announced his departure after a decade at the Etihad Stadium.
That announcement closed one chapter in Manchester City’s history and marked the beginning of another under Enzo Maresca.
Meanwhile, one former City defender has now embarked on a new challenge of his own.
After spending the last few years establishing himself in Spain, the experienced full-back has completed a move to one of Greece’s biggest clubs.
Olympiacos officially confirmed the signing of former Manchester City defender Pablo Maffeo from Mallorca.
In a statement, the Greek club announced the arrival of the 28-year-old Argentine right-back, who joins after making 160 appearances for Mallorca.
During his time at the Spanish club, Maffeo scored five goals and provided 15 assists. The defender arrives following another strong campaign in La Liga, where he made 31 appearances last season.
Overall, he accumulated 211 appearances in Spain’s top division. Maffeo’s journey began in the youth ranks of Espanyol before Manchester City secured his signature in 2013.
He joined City’s Elite Development Squad and progressed through the academy system before making three competitive appearances for the first team.
Those outings included matches in both the League Cup and the Champions League. However, opportunities proved limited and Maffeo spent several loan spells away from the club.
His development accelerated during successful periods with Girona, eventually earning him a permanent move to Bundesliga side Stuttgart in 2018.
Although his spell in Germany presented challenges, it helped prepare him for a successful return to Spanish football.
Maffeo initially joined Mallorca on loan in 2021 before making the move permanent. Now, he begins a new chapter in Greece.
