Liverpool are entering a crucial summer under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League last season and missed out on silverware.
As a result, major decisions are being made both on and off the pitch as the club prepares for a fresh start.
Several arrivals are expected before the new campaign begins. However, Liverpool must also resolve a number of contract situations within the current squad.
A significant group of players will enter the final year of their deals this summer. That list includes senior figures such as Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, and Joe Gomez.
Consequently, the club faces important choices over renewals and potential departures.
One player whose future has attracted growing attention is Curtis Jones, who remains highly regarded at Anfield.
The 25-year-old has emerged as a priority target for one of Europe’s biggest clubs. Yet Liverpool have made it clear they will not allow him to leave on the cheap.
According to The Times, Liverpool have rejected a new £21.7 million offer from Inter Milan for Curtis Jones.
The Serie A side previously saw an opening bid worth £17.3 million turned down earlier this month.
They returned with an improved proposal worth €25 million (£21.7 million), but Liverpool immediately rejected it.
The report states that Liverpool value Jones at £35 million and currently view the Italian club’s offers as well below their expectations.
As a result, discussions between the clubs have now stalled. The Times also reports that Liverpool no longer see Inter as serious contenders for Jones because of the nature of their bids.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation, Liverpool are not concerned about the midfielder becoming distracted if he remains at Anfield.
For now, Jones will report for pre-season and travel with Iraola’s squad for their tour of the United States.
