Real Madrid have entered a new era under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager takes charge after a disappointing campaign that ended with the exit of both Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.
Mourinho now faces the task of rebuilding the squad and returning the club to the top of European football. He has already started the work behind the scenes.
Real Madrid continue to assess several positions in the market. Reports suggest the club wants another centre-back and a creative midfielder as Mourinho reshapes his squad for next season.
At the same time, questions have surrounded the future of several young players. One of those players is Endrick.
The Brazilian endured a difficult first half of the 2025-26 campaign and eventually joined Lyon on loan.
The move gave the teenager regular playing time and helped him rebuild confidence after a frustrating spell in Madrid. The loan proved encouraging.
Endrick scored five Ligue 1 goals in 16 appearances and finished with eight goals in 21 matches across all competitions.
Those performances also earned him a place in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. Now, his future appears much clearer.
According to reports from AS via Madrid Universal, Mourinho wants to keep Endrick at Real Madrid and views him as an important part of the club’s long-term plans.
The report states that any future arrivals will not affect the Brazilian’s standing within the squad.
However, the Real Madrid manager still wants another attacking profile. That approach has also affected Gonzalo Garcia.
Real Betis have shown interest in the forward, but Mourinho wants a closer look at him during pre-season before making any final decision.
Garcia impressed during the 2025-26 campaign with eight goals in 39 appearances. For Endrick, though, the message appears straightforward.
Despite his loan spell away from the club, Mourinho sees the 19-year-old as an important part of Real Madrid’s future and plans to keep him in the Spanish capital next season.
