Bournemouth set to sign former Real Madrid striker

Bournemouth are targeting reinforcements in attack and defence as they prepare for the Europa League.

Bournemouth are preparing for a historic campaign after securing European qualification for the first time in the club’s history.

The Cherries finished sixth in the Premier League last season before Andoni Iraola departed to become Liverpool manager.

So, they appointed Marco Rose as new manager ahead of the 2026–27 season. The club have wasted little time backing their new head coach in the transfer market.

Bournemouth are targeting reinforcements in attack and defence as they prepare for the Europa League.

Meanwhile, they are also working to keep hold of key midfielder Alex Scott despite interest from multiple Premier League giants. According to BBC Sport, Bournemouth are in talks to sign Alvaro Rodriguez from Elche.

The report states that the initial fee is expected to be around £18 million and could rise to £25 million with add-ons, while the 21-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract if the deal is completed.

Rodriguez came through Girona’s academy before joining Real Madrid in 2020. He progressed through the club’s academy system and later broke into Carlo Ancelotti’s first team.

Rodriguez registered an assist on his La Liga debut against Osasuna before scoring a late equaliser against Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguay youth international left Real Madrid for Elche last summer in search of regular first-team football.

His impressive performances during the 2025–26 campaign have now attracted Bournemouth.

Now, Real Madrid would receive 50% of any transfer fee following the agreement reached when they sold the striker.

Bournemouth believe Rodriguez can provide competition for Evanilson as Rose reshapes his attacking options.

The club also remain open to selling Enes Unal for the right price during the current transfer window.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth remain determined to keep Alex Scott despite enquiries from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United.
