Fabrizio Romano reveals shock Jurgen Klopp managerial return

Jurgen Klopp open to Germany manager role following World Cup exit.

Germany were eliminated from the World Cup by Paraguay.

A disaster, according to almost everyone watching.

Julian Nagelsmann’s future is suddenly under serious pressure.

And the man who could replace him has just been identified.

Jurgen Klopp open to Germany manager role following World Cup exit

According to Fabrizio Romano, Klopp would be open to considering a return to management if the German Football Federation decide to call him following Germany’s early World Cup exit.

Romano confirmed the update on X, posting: “Jürgen Klopp would be open to considering return to management if German Federation decide to call him. Nagelsmann wants to stay but final decision in DFB hands. Klopp would be open to listening and keen on project.”

Those words are significant.

Klopp has been away from management since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024.

Stepping back after nine extraordinary years at Anfield that delivered a Champions League, a Premier League title and a transformation of the club that supporters will never forget.

However, he has spent the time since in a role as Global Head of Football for the Red Bull group.

A position he described as genuinely enjoyable and considerably less draining than day-to-day club management.

But the Germany job is different.

It isn’t weekly football.

It’s a national team project built around major tournaments, and the prospect of leading his own country to the 2030 World Cup on home soil is understood to hold a very specific appeal.

Nagelsmann, for his part, wants to stay.

“I’m not someone who runs away,” he said after the Paraguay defeat. “I’m available if that’s what the DFB wants.”

The federation holds the ultimate decision.

But with Romano confirming Klopp’s openness, and a clause apparently clearing the path, one of football’s most beloved managers might be about to return.
