Aris Thessaloniki officially hire former Chelsea manager

Aris have officially confirmed the appointment of a former Chelsea manager.

Chelsea have entered a new era under Xabi Alonso after a disappointing campaign. The Blues finished 10th in the Premier League and failed to qualify for European competition.

They have already completed the signing of Marco Palestra from Atalanta, while Marc Cucurella has joined Real Madrid.

Chelsea are also working on a move for Granit Xhaka and continue to monitor the futures of several senior players, including Enzo Fernández.

Aris Thessaloniki have also stayed busy during the summer. The club finished seventh in the Greek Super League after changing managers three times last season.

Now, Aris have officially confirmed the appointment of former Chelsea manager Avram Grant.

The Greek club have made another important change as they continue reshaping the football department ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Aris confirmed the appointment in an official statement. The club announced that Grant will become the new Managing Director and advisor to the club’s administration.

They added that his experience at top European clubs and international teams will help strengthen Aris both on and off the pitch as they pursue their long-term ambitions.

Grant enjoyed one of the most memorable spells of his coaching career at Stamford Bridge. He took charge of Chelsea during the 2007/08 season after Jose Mourinho’s departure.

He guided the club to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in its history and pushed Manchester United all the way in the Premier League title race.

Chelsea eventually lost the Champions League final on penalties before the club parted ways with Grant at the end of the season.

Since then, the experienced Israeli has managed Portsmouth, West Ham United, Partizan Belgrade, Ghana and Zambia. He now returns to European club football with Aris.
