Chelsea endured a disappointing 2025/26 campaign and finished the season without European football.
The Blues changed managers multiple times before eventually turning to Xabi Alonso to lead a new project at Stamford Bridge.
Since then, the London club have moved quickly in the market as Alonso begins reshaping his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha have already arrived, while several players have departed west London.
Andrey Santos completed a move to Manchester United and Marc Cucurella joined Real Madrid as Chelsea reduced the size of the squad.
However, the rebuild is far from complete and further additions remain under consideration before the transfer window closes.
One area Chelsea continue to assess is the attacking department as Alonso looks to add more quality and depth to his options.
According to Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness), Chelsea are interested in signing Andreas Schjelderup.
But Marco Silva has already spoken directly to the Benfica winger in an attempt to convince him to stay.
The Portuguese side have already offered fresh terms to extend his stay in Lisbon and are keen to secure his long-term future.
However, uncertainty continues to grow as interest from England intensifies during the summer window.
The Benfica manager reportedly views the Norwegian as a fundamental part of both his tactical plans and the club’s wider project.
Silva is also aware that Schjelderup has yet to respond to Benfica’s latest renewal proposal.
The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in Portugal. He also established himself as one of the biggest surprises of the World Cup with Norway.
He provided two assists for Erling Haaland in the victory over Brazil before scoring against England in the quarter-finals. Those displays have only strengthened Benfica’s position in negotiations.
Recent reports suggest the Portuguese club could now demand closer to €50 million before sanctioning a sale.
Liverpool and Tottenham have also been linked with the winger, leaving Benfica facing an increasingly difficult battle to keep him.
