The future of Jarrod Bowen has been the subject of intense speculation since West Ham United suffered relegation to the Championship.
The Hammers captain was one of the few positives during a difficult campaign at the London Stadium.
Bowen scored nine Premier League goals and provided 11 assists despite the club’s struggles at both ends of the pitch.
Those performances quickly attracted attention from elsewhere following West Ham’s drop into the second tier.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa were all linked with moves for the England international this summer.
However, Bowen has now ended the uncertainty surrounding his immediate future at the club.
According to talkSPORT, the West Ham captain has signed a revised contract running until 2030 as part of his commitment to the Championship campaign.
Bowen also made it clear that his priority is leading the club back to the Premier League at the first attempt. He said:
“The main motivation for me is staying and bringing this club back into the Premier League, where we belong.
“There were always going to be rumours, there were always going to be different things going on, what’s going on, and I think for me it was only right to speak when the time’s right in circumstances like this.
“Ultimately it hurt everyone, and it should hurt everyone because it was such a disappointing thing that happened, but you can’t change it, you know, it doesn’t last forever.
“I flew out to Prague in the Czech Republic to meet Daniel [Kretinsky] and Jiri [Svarc], go out and speak. The ambition that I got from Daniel and Jiri, certainly in terms of the direction the club wants to move in, it interests me a lot.
“It didn’t take a lot for me because this club means a lot to me. As I said, I did an interview after the game and said my vision is to get this club back in the Premier League.
“I’ve been here six and a half years and obviously transitioned from a boy really, from the Championship, into a man now, captain of the club, which is a huge honour.”
Bowen’s experience in the Championship could prove crucial for West Ham next season.
The forward made 117 appearances in England’s second tier during his time at Hull City, scoring 52 goals and providing 12 assists.
Since arriving at West Ham in January 2020, Bowen has represented the club on 280 occasions, scoring 85 goals and registering 63 assists.
