Barcelona enjoyed another successful domestic campaign as they won La Liga for the second consecutive season under Hansi Flick.
The Catalan giants also lifted the Supercopa de Espana, although Atletico Madrid ended their Champions League campaign in the quarter-finals.
Now, Barcelona are reshaping their squad during the summer transfer window after returning to La Liga’s 1:1 financial spending rule.
The club have already signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati and Inaki Pena have all left as Barcelona continue making changes to their squad.
However, one of the biggest decisions now surrounds Ferran Torres following his impressive season and World Cup campaign.
The 26-year-old scored 21 goals across all competitions for Barcelona before playing a decisive role for Spain during the tournament.
Torres came off the bench in the World Cup final and scored the winning goal against Argentina in the 106th minute.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will hold a meeting with Ferran Torres next week to learn his intentions regarding his future.
The club want clarity before deciding their next move, with Torres now entering the final year of his Barcelona contract.
Paris Saint-Germain are pushing to sign him, with Luis Enrique keen on bringing the Spain international to France.
However, Barcelona still count on Torres for the upcoming season while waiting to see what happens with Julian Alvarez.
The Catalan club are not expected to discuss a contract renewal until September because of financial fair-play considerations.
Any renewal would also require Barcelona to pay Manchester City €8 million due to a clause in his original transfer agreement.
Torres’ value has also increased following his World Cup performances, especially after scoring the decisive goal in the final.
He has now scored 65 goals in 207 official appearances for Barcelona since joining the club in January 2022.
Therefore, next week’s meeting will be crucial as Barcelona look to define Torres’ future before the transfer window closes.
