Liverpool owners confirm talks to sell in deal that values club at $6bn

Liverpool Football Club owners have confirmed that they will be selling the club in a massive deal.

In recent years, Liverpool have been one of the most successful clubs in England. Now, the Anfield side are set to face significant changes behind the scenes.

Liverpool’s owners have confirmed talks over selling a significant minority stake in the club in a massive potential deal.

The proposed investment would value the Premier League side at more than $6 billion, and an interested investor group has already emerged.

Fenway Sports Group have owned Liverpool since purchasing the club for around £300 million in 2010.

Since then, the value of the club has increased dramatically, and the latest negotiations underline that remarkable financial growth.

According to the Financial Times, a consortium led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia is in active talks with FSG over making a significant minority investment in Liverpool.

Bhatia is the son-in-law of billionaire steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and is also a co-owner of Queens Park Rangers.

Furthermore, the consortium reportedly has backing from the Mittal family. And it has already appointed advisers to work on a potential offer.

FSG have confirmed the consortium’s interest while making clear that discussions concern a strategic minority investment rather than a complete takeover.

Therefore, the American ownership group would not sell Liverpool outright under the deal currently being discussed.

Instead, Bhatia’s consortium would acquire a significant stake while the proposed transaction values the entire club at more than $6 billion.

The negotiations also arrive during a period of considerable change at Anfield.

Liverpool have appointed Andoni Iraola following Arne Slot’s departure, while several established players have also left during the summer.

Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have departed, while Liverpool have started rebuilding their squad with new arrivals.

Meanwhile, the potential minority investment represents another major development as the club enters its next chapter.

Talks remain ongoing between FSG and Bhatia’s consortium, with no final agreement confirmed at this stage.
