Leeds United enjoyed a stable return to Premier League football last season and eventually secured a 14th-place finish with 47 points.
Daniel Farke’s side successfully avoided a relegation battle while also producing an impressive run to the FA Cup semi-finals.
However, Leeds have faced significant changes this summer as they prepare for another campaign in the top flight.
The Whites have already strengthened their squad by signing Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo and adding Harry Wilson from Fulham.
Meanwhile, their goalkeeping department requires major attention following the departures of Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier.
Darlow completed a move to Manchester United, while Meslier joined Arsenal, leaving Leeds searching for a new first-choice goalkeeper.
Now, the Yorkshire club have turned towards Manchester City as they attempt to solve that problem before the new season begins.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United are in talks with Manchester City over a move for James Trafford.
The 23-year-old returned to Manchester City from Burnley last summer in a £31 million deal.
However, Trafford struggled for regular Premier League opportunities and made only four appearances in the competition last season.
Overall, the England international featured 17 times across all competitions before travelling to the World Cup during the summer.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United had previously considered signing Trafford as their new number one goalkeeper.
However, the Magpies have now withdrawn from the race, handing Leeds a significant boost in their pursuit of the Manchester City player.
Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest, but Trafford reportedly sees an opportunity to build his future at Elland Road.
Furthermore, Leeds have explored other goalkeeper options and made an enquiry about Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
However, they remain hopeful that Trafford will choose a move to Elland Road as he searches for regular first-team football.
