Jürgen Klopp had quite the career at Liverpool.
He arrived in October 2015, replacing the sacked Brendan Rodgers.
During his eight and a half years in charge, he won an array of trophies.
Klopp won a Champions League with Liverpool, with two additional runners up medals.
He also guided them to their first ever league title since 1990, as well as two second place finishes.
Two of the four highest points totals in Premier League history belong to Liverpool during his tenure.
Klopp also guided them to two League Cups, an FA Cup, a Club World Cup and Super Cup.
His time as Liverpool ended in May 2024, bowing out with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanders at a celebrant Anfield.
Even in his absence, his reputation at the club has grown further over the past 12 months.
Unlike Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger, Klopp left a brilliant legacy and handed over a team ready to win to his predecessor.
In Arne Slot’s first season as Klopp’s replacement, Liverpool eased to a Premier League title, just their second since the tournament’s inception in 1992.
Liverpool might have finished with 84 points, but this would have been a much higher points total had they not taken their foot off the gas due to the forgone conclusion that was their title win.
We saw a similar drop off with Liverpool under Klopp a season prior.
It was clear to see Klopp’s energy had run out, and he has previously discussed how he almost left in the summer of 2023.
This was after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign.
Liverpool played every single game possible in 2021/22 and were going for a quadruple.
They finished second and lost in the Champions League final after winning both the League Cup and FA Cup finals against Chelsea via a penalty shootout.
With summer arrivals, Liverpool fans were hoping of going one better in both the league and Europe.
However, they finished fifth and were well below what was usually expected of them.
Klopp has also now revealed how he almost left Liverpool for a different job in that same year.
Jürgen Klopp reveals job he turned down in 2023
It has now been revealed by Klopp that he had the opportunity to manage the Germany national team.
He said: “The season before that [final one] didn’t go so well for Liverpool – and in the summer after this season, Germany was looking for a new national coach.
“I could have said ‘yes’ because it might have been better to do something different.
“I didn’t want to. And the decision was not about the job of the national coach itself. I couldn’t leave Liverpool like that.
“We had brought in new players like Endo, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai and Mac Allister. With them and the core team, I wanted to fix it again. That was important to me. We managed to do that.”
