Barcelona enjoyed an excellent 2025-26 season under Hansi Flick. They won La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana after beating Real Madrid in both competitions.
However, Atletico Madrid ended their Copa del Rey and Champions League campaigns. The Catalan club have stayed busy this summer.
Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Bisiwu have strengthened the attack. Marc-Andre ter Stegen joined Ajax on loan, while Marcus Rashford returned to Manchester United.
Deco also continues to pursue Julian Alvarez and Joao Cancelo before the transfer window closes. Barcelona have made a steady start to pre-season.
They beat CE Europa 4-1 before drawing 2-2 with Birmingham City. They now face Nottingham Forest, Udinese and Al Ahly before the new campaign begins.
Paris Saint-Germain also enter the season in strong shape after retaining the Ligue 1 and Champions League titles.
The French side have already sold Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani and Lee Kang-in, while Luis Enrique continues to reshape his squad. That activity could now bring the two clubs together.
According to SPORT, Paris Saint-Germain are expected to submit an official offer for Ferran Torres this week. The report states Barcelona have not received a formal request from Torres to leave.
However, discussions with his representatives have convinced the club that PSG are preparing to make their move before the forward returns to training on August 12.
Barcelona will only negotiate if PSG submit a major offer. Club officials believe Torres’ value has risen after his World Cup performances, and they have no intention of lowering their asking price.
They are even prepared to keep him for another season rather than accept a reduced fee. The report adds that Flick wanted to discuss the player’s future when pre-season resumed.
However, PSG could move before those talks take place. If Torres leaves, Barcelona will step up their pursuit of Julian Alvarez while keeping alternative striker targets on their shortlist.
