Liverpool endured a difficult 2025–26 campaign and finished fifth in the Premier League.
Their 60-point total still secured Champions League qualification, but inconsistency ultimately cost Arne Slot his position.
Andoni Iraola has since taken charge and begun reshaping the squad. Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all departed.
Liverpool responded by signing Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and Victor Munoz from Osasuna. Further defensive work is also underway, with Ronald Araujo moving closer to a season-long loan.
Liverpool have also made progress in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola as Iraola continues rebuilding several areas. Pre-season has produced mixed results.
The Reds beat Sunderland 4–2 and Wrexham 1–0 before losing 4–2 against Leeds United. They then surrendered a two-goal advantage in a 3–2 defeat to Monaco at Anfield.
Midfield could become the next priority, particularly if Curtis Jones leaves before the transfer deadline.
According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool are monitoring Lamine Camara and could enter the race for the Monaco midfielder once other priority deals are completed.
Monaco value the 22-year-old at around €50 million and have little reason to accept a reduced offer.
Camara remains under contract until 2029 after establishing himself as a regular following his move from Metz. The Senegal international made 30 appearances across all competitions last season.
He contributed one goal and four assists while impressing with his energy, defensive work and ability to cover ground. Liverpool are not alone in the race.
Crystal Palace have already submitted an offer, while Nottingham Forest are preparing their own proposal. Manchester United are also keeping close tabs on the situation.
Monaco have already identified Cruz Azul midfielder Erik Lira as a possible replacement if Camara leaves.
For Liverpool, his arrival could provide stronger competition for Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.
His age also fits Iraola’s rebuild, making him an attractive long-term option if the Reds decide to meet Monaco’s €50 million valuation.
