Manchester City plan triple Chelsea transfer swoop

City’s plans remain dependent on several moving pieces across the final weeks of the window.

Manchester City have already made major changes during their first summer under Enzo Maresca. Their summer rebuild has included several significant arrivals and departures.

City broke their transfer record to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million. Jeremy Monga and Geronimo Rulli also joined Maresca’s squad.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and Tijjani Reijnders have all departed.

City could now turn towards Chelsea as Maresca continues reshaping his squad before the transfer deadline.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester City are exploring moves for Malo Gusto, Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto.

City have made fresh contact with Chelsea regarding Gusto after initially enquiring about him earlier this summer.

The 23-year-old previously worked under Maresca at Stamford Bridge and would consider joining City.

However, Chelsea want more than £70 million for the France international. That valuation currently leaves significant distance between the two clubs.

City also remain interested in Fernandez despite missing Chelsea’s deadline to complete a deal last Friday.

The Manchester club could revisit the midfielder once Rodri completes his proposed move to Barcelona. But the Blues will now demand a higher transfer fee for the Argentine.

Maresca already knows Fernandez well from their time together at Chelsea. Pedro Neto completes City’s three-man Chelsea shortlist as they prepare for another possible attacking departure.

Savinho remains on course to join Tottenham Hotspur. City have discussed Neto as a potential replacement for the Brazilian winger.

Chelsea value Neto at £60 million, although City also face competition from Al-Hilal. The Saudi club are progressing with their own attempt to sign the Portugal international.

Al-Hilal need to complete several departures before pushing ahead with a move. They have also enquired about Savinho as an alternative option.

City’s plans therefore remain dependent on several moving pieces across the final weeks of the window.

Discussions concerning Gusto and Fernandez should continue, while Neto’s situation remains open.
