Crystal Palace need another defender.
Marc Guehi has gone.
Maxence Lacroix has also left.
And Pierre Sage now needs another option at the back.
Chelsea could have the answer.
Axel Disasi’s time at Stamford Bridge appears to be coming to an end.
The Frenchman has spent much of the past year away from Chelsea’s plans.
Now another move is close.
Crystal Palace closes in on Axel Disasi following him falling out of favour at Chelsea
According to The Sun, Crystal Palace are closing in on a loan deal for Disasi after the defender was left without a squad number at Chelsea for the 2026-27 season.
That decision made his situation clear.
Xabi Alonso does not appear to have a place for him, and Disasi needs to find one elsewhere.
The 28-year-old has already experienced two loan spells since falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
Aston Villa came first.
Then West Ham.
His spell with the Hammers was particularly encouraging.
Disasi impressed during his time in east London despite being unable to prevent their relegation.
That form has not gone unnoticed.
And now Crystal Palace are ready to give him another opportunity in the Premier League.
The situation at Selhurst Park makes the move logical.
Palace have lost two important centre-backs.
Lacroix has also moved on.
The latter joined Chelsea for around £52 million.
Now Disasi could travel in the opposite direction.
The Eagles have already strengthened their defence this summer.
Oscar Mingueza has arrived.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has also joined.
Disasi would add another experienced option.
And unlike some of Palace’s younger defenders, he already knows the demands of English football.
That experience could prove valuable.
Especially with a new manager trying to establish his ideas.
For Chelsea, the move would provide another solution to a growing squad problem.
Sometimes a transfer simply makes sense for everyone involved.
This looks like one of those deals.
