Manchester City have undergone major changes since Enzo Maresca replaced Pep Guardiola ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.
City endured a mixed preseason before Arsenal handed them a 3-0 defeat in the FA Community Shield.
However, Maresca secured his first Premier League victory as City beat Bournemouth 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol scored late goals, while substitute Rayan Cherki provided assists for both strikes.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have also made significant changes to their squad throughout the summer transfer window.
They signed Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million after losing several important midfield options this summer.
City then agreed an £86 million deal with Lille for 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi later in August.
However, their attacking options could also change significantly before the transfer window closes on September 1.
City have agreed to sell Savinho to Tottenham for an initial £75 million, potentially rising to £85 million.
Omar Marmoush is also closing in on a move to Tottenham after the clubs reached a verbal agreement.
Therefore, Maresca could lose two attacking options during the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester City have explored a shock move for Chelsea striker Marc Guiu as Maresca considers attacking reinforcements.
The City manager knows Guiu from their time together at Chelsea and remains a keen admirer of the Spaniard.
City believe the 20-year-old could develop into a successful understudy to Erling Haaland and provide central attacking depth.
However, Napoli have also contacted Guiu, while RB Leipzig have explored a possible move for the Chelsea forward.
Chelsea are willing to listen to offers as new head coach Xabi Alonso finalises his attacking options.
The Blues value Guiu at around £25 million after signing him from Barcelona for approximately £5 million in 2024.
Guiu did not receive a squad number before Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Fulham and does not feature in Alonso’s plans.
His representatives are now considering opportunities across Europe, with Manchester City emerging as another possible destination before deadline day.
