Chelsea star set to join Nottingham Forest

Forest are initially trying to structure a loan deal with an option to buy.

Chelsea began their 2026/27 Premier League campaign with a 3-2 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, giving Xabi Alonso a winning start in charge.

Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer scored as the Blues carried their attacking form from pre-season into the opening league fixture.

Their squad has changed significantly during the transfer window, with Morgan Rogers arriving for a club-record £120 million fee.

Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck have also joined, while Andrey Santos, Marc Cucurella and Trevoh Chalobah have departed permanently.

With the September deadline approaching, Chelsea are also dealing with interest in several other members of the squad.

According to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest are in talks with Chelsea over a move for Liam Delap. The forward was left out of the squad against Fulham.

Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for Delap, who joined from Ipswich last summer after an impressive campaign at Portman Road.

The 23-year-old scored one Premier League goal during his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Forest are initially trying to structure a loan deal with an option to buy. However, other Premier League clubs have also shown interest.

Ipswich have looked at the possibility of bringing Delap back. Meanwhile, Leeds United are also keen but could find the likely fee difficult to meet. Everton could consider a loan move if permanent offers from rival clubs do not materialise.

Forest have already added Ousmane Diomande for £36 million, while Xaver Schlager and Steve Benda arrived as free agents.

The club also sold Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for £116 million. Forest are now trying to make a deal for Delap work as Chelsea continue to streamline their squad.
