Manchester City set to bid for Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea have remained firm over their valuation.

Manchester City are preparing another major move in the transfer market as Enzo Maresca continues rebuilding his midfield.

The club have already undergone significant changes following several high-profile departures during the current summer transfer window.

Rodri joined Barcelona for £65 million, while Tijjani Reijnders moved to Al-Qadsiah for £52 million.

Bernardo Silva also departed before joining Real Madrid, while Newcastle agreed a £52 million deal for Nico Gonzalez.

As a result, City have focused heavily on strengthening their midfield options before the transfer deadline arrives.

They have already paid £116 million to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest during their extensive summer rebuild.

City also completed a club-record £85 million deal to sign teenage midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille.

However, Maresca still wants another major addition and has identified Enzo Fernandez as a priority target.

According to the BBC, Manchester City are now ready to make an opening offer for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea are aware of City’s interest and previously set an unofficial deadline for negotiations to reach an agreement.

The Blues also demanded a minimum fee of £120 million, although that deadline eventually passed without a deal.

Nevertheless, City could make another attempt to sign the 25-year-old before next week’s transfer deadline.

Fernandez has a positive relationship with Maresca following their time together at Chelsea before the manager’s departure.

If City complete the move, Fernandez could become one of the most expensive signings in Premier League history.

However, Chelsea have remained firm over their valuation, while City have been cautious about meeting such a significant asking price.

Fernandez has also experienced uncertainty at Stamford Bridge since Chelsea were eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

He later became increasingly critical of the club, while Real Madrid were also linked with a possible move.

However, the Spanish club subsequently issued a statement denying they had attempted to sign the Argentina international.
