A French gang reportedly targeted Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe and several other high-profile individuals in an alleged kidnapping plot.
The France international has remained one of Madrid’s leading figures after another prolific campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mbappe scored 25 goals in 31 La Liga appearances during 2025–26, finishing the campaign as the competition’s leading scorer.
Across all competitions, he registered 42 goals and six assists from 44 appearances for the Spanish giants.
However, disturbing details have now emerged regarding an alleged criminal plot involving the Real Madrid forward.
According to Le Parisien, Mbappe was among 26 wealthy individuals whose details were allegedly connected to plans being discussed by a French gang.
The list reportedly included footballers, rappers, businessmen, jewellers and other wealthy individuals.
French authorities allege that 18-year-old Clement L played a central role in the operation.
Authorities had already jailed him over an armed robbery involving a Paris watchmaker, while he also faced pre-trial detention in separate cases.
Investigators reportedly discovered that he had continued sending instructions from prison through two mobile phones using Snapchat.
The account involved allegedly operated under the alias “Lester Z”, with investigators examining communications found on the devices.
Furthermore, prison guards seized the phones, allowing investigators to reportedly discover the addresses of 26 wealthy individuals.
Mbappe was among those named, alongside a Chinese businessman, jewellers and a Turkish meat trader.
A source close to the investigation told Le Parisien that the contents of the seized phones provided significant information about the alleged plans.
The teenager has denied being the mastermind behind the plot after being questioned by investigators.
He also requested release from solitary confinement, but authorities reportedly ruled that he should remain there while the investigation continues.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2024 and remains contracted to the club until June 2029.
The report does not indicate that Mbappe suffered any physical harm, as investigators uncovered the alleged kidnapping plot before it could take place.
