Three former Real Madrid youth players have accepted one-year prison sentences following a case dating back to 2023.
The proceedings concerned a sexually explicit video recorded in Gran Canaria involving two young women, one of whom was 16 at the time.
The case involved Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez and Andres Garcia, alongside current Real Madrid first-team defender Raul Asencio.
However, Asencio faced a different accusation from the three former academy players and has now left the proceedings without a conviction.
According to Canarias Ahora, Ruiz, Rodriguez and Garcia accepted one-year prison sentences for child pornography after reaching an agreement with the prosecution.
The three former Real Madrid youth players had faced significantly longer sentences before the parties reached the agreement.
Prosecutors had initially sought four years and seven months in prison for each of Ruiz, Rodriguez and Garcia.
The two women involved in the case confirmed during the trial that they had forgiven all four footballers.
Consequently, prosecutors applied a mitigating circumstance to the most serious charge against the three former academy players.
Meanwhile, the court cleared Asencio after the victims’ decision to forgive the players removed the only charge he faced in this case.
Prosecutors had accused the Real Madrid defender of revealing secrets after he allegedly showed the video to another person.
The report states that Asencio knew the other defendants had recorded the footage without the women’s permission.
Before the case concluded, prosecutors had sought a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for the Real Madrid centre-back.
However, the victims’ forgiveness meant the prosecution no longer pursued that charge, allowing Asencio to leave the case without a conviction.
The legal development comes as Real Madrid have made a perfect start to their 2026–27 La Liga campaign.
Madrid have collected nine points from their opening three league matches, beating Espanyol, Real Sociedad and Malaga.
They have scored 10 goals across those fixtures, with Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler among their early goalscorers.
For Ruiz, Rodriguez and Garcia, however, the proceedings have concluded with each accepting a one-year prison sentence.
