Liverpool have moved to secure another important part of their long-term plans following a major summer overhaul at Anfield.
Andoni Iraola’s squad changed significantly after the departures of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones.
The Reds responded with substantial investment, including a deal worth up to £123 million for Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz also arrived permanently, while Liverpool signed Ronald Araujo on loan from Barcelona.
However, the club have also focused on protecting their leading young talents following the closure of the summer window.
One highly-rated youngster attracted interest from several major European clubs after establishing himself within Liverpool’s senior squad.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have now agreed a new contract in principle with winger Rio Ngumoha.
The 18-year-old attracted interest from Bayern Munich during the summer, while Real Madrid and Barcelona also admire him.
Ngumoha joined Liverpool from Chelsea in 2024 and has since progressed rapidly through the club’s ranks.
He made 29 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign, including 19 outings in the Premier League.
Ngumoha also registered two goals and one assist as he earned significant first-team minutes before turning 18.
Liverpool had already started discussions over improved terms before the winger celebrated his 18th birthday on August 29.
TEAMtalk reports that the two parties have now reached an agreement in principle after those negotiations progressed successfully.
Only the finer details remain before Ngumoha formally signs the contract, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks.
The new agreement will provide the teenager with improved terms and reflect his growing importance within Liverpool’s plans.
Bayern were linked with Ngumoha during the summer, but Liverpool never received an official enquiry for the winger.
The Reds maintained that he was not available for transfer, and Ngumoha has made his commitment to Liverpool clear.
Liverpool now expect him to continue his development under Iraola after taking another significant step into the senior setup.
