Liverpool have confirmed the tragic news of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva passing away in a car accident in Spain.
It was hard to believe at first. Fans were struggling to fathom what had just happened. It was Thursday morning when the news hit the internet.
At first, people thought it was fake news. Just fake news often gets spread on the internet.
However, when Spanish outlet MARCA reported, fans realized that even if it was hard to believe, it was true.
But everyone waited for what Liverpool would say. Jota was a Liverpool player and played a key role in the Premier League success of the club last year.
Jota represented Liverpool 182 times. Before that, he used to play for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
For Wolves, he played 131 games before joining Liverpool in 2020.
For the Reds, the Portuguese international scored 65 goals.
Jota had a successful football career as he won multiple trophies with his club and country.
The forward was a part of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League-winning campaigns in 2019 and 2025.
He won the League Cup twice with Liverpool, along with an FA Cup and the Premier League.
The loss of Diogo Jota is still hard to believe. Recently, he got married.
He also had three kids who lost their father, and his newly wedded wife lost her husband.
This cannot get any sadder. Liverpool’s club statement on this matter stated;
