Liverpool underwent a major attacking overhaul following Andoni Iraola’s arrival during the summer.
Mohamed Salah departed as part of significant squad changes, while Bradley Barcola arrived from Paris Saint-Germain for £123 million.
Victor Munoz also strengthened the attack, but Liverpool could return to the market for another winger.
Their promising start was disrupted by Manchester City after seven unbeaten matches across all competitions. Iraola’s side suffered a 3-0 defeat at Anfield.
Liverpool could now consider further reinforcements for the right side of their attack. According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Liverpool are interested in Porto winger William Gomes.
The 20-year-old Brazilian has emerged as a potential long-term option following Salah’s departure.
Gomes joined Porto from Sao Paulo in January 2025 for €9 million. He has since registered 16 goals and four assists across 67 appearances.
This season, the winger has contributed two goals and two assists in eight Primeira Liga appearances.
Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward is considering Gomes while searching for another attacking option. However, Porto have established a significant financial barrier for any interested club.
Gomes signed a new contract last week which runs until June 2031. His release clause was also increased from €80 million to €100 million.
A Bola states that Porto will not accept anything below that figure. Liverpool would therefore need to pay around £84.6 million to secure the Brazilian. Manchester United also have Gomes on their list of targets.
Liverpool previously pursued Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh towards the end of the summer window.
Gomes has now emerged as another option, but Porto’s €100 million demand represents a substantial obstacle to any potential deal.
