Newcastle United had a great season last time around. The Magpies secured a Champions League spot on the last day of the Premier League.

They also beat the eventual Premier League champions to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium, ending a 70-year trophy drought at St. James’ Park.

As the season gets over, Eddie Howe and his recruitment team are now looking to build a squad capable of going deep into the Champions League.

Last time in Europe’s elite competition, the Magpies were eliminated in the group stages.

However, they did have some memorable results. Newcastle fans will fondly remember that 4-1 win at St. James’s Park against PSG, the current holders of the competition.

That is why they are looking to sign an elite striker to play alongside Alexander Isak.

However, the Swedish international is already attracting interest from the Premier League champions.

The Reds have already submitted a massive bid for the Newcastle United striker.

However, Newcastle wasted no time in rejecting that bid.

Liverpool need a striker this season as they are looking to offload Darwin Nunez.

So, if Isak is not available in the market, they will have to look elsewhere.

That is where Arne Slot and his recruitment team landed on a striker that Newcastle United want are eyeing as well.

Yes, Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt is attracting interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

Newcastle have already submitted a massive bid of over £70m. But, the German club have rejected the offer.

But, after Isak’s bid got rejected, Liverpool are now seriously considering making a move for the French striker.

According to the Guardian, with Liverpool in the scene, Hugo Ekitike would prefer to join the Premier League champions over Newcastle United.

Now, this could be a major blow for the Magpies. Also, Liverpool’s first priority is signing Alexander Isak.

So, this could compel Newcastle to start the discussion about a potential deal for Isak. Otherwise, they will not get Hugo Ekitike this summer.
