FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against PSG exposed Real Madrid’s midfield.
Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, and, Joao Neves ran riot in the middle of the park while dictating terms of the game.
However, Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Arda Guler were left clueless throughout the game.
Xabi Alonso, who was in-charge of the first tournament as the Real Madrid boss was stunned by Luis Enrique’s Champions League winners.
The former Bayer Leverkusen boss thought that he had a perfect team. However, that game was the eye opener for not only Xabi Alonso but also for Florentino Perez.
They want to make sure they don’t mess up this season. Last season, they were unable to lift a trophy which is rare for Real Madrid.
That is why they want to cover up all the loopholes in their team that might prevent them from lifting a trophy this season.
After the departure of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Casemiro, Real Madrid are still struggling to find a settled midfield trio.
They have tried different combinations but they didn’t work. And, that PSG game exposed the flaw in their midfield.
That is why Real Madrid are eyeing a midfielder. According to Cadena SER, Florentino Pérez and the board are only focused on one name, Rodri from Manchester City.
He didn’t play last season after winning the Ballon d’Or. Rodri was pivotal in the success of Manchester City. So, they are not ready to let him go.
At the moment, Madrid will not move for any other defensive midfielder than Rodri. They are waiting for Rodri to become available in the market.
Currently, Manchester City are reluctant to sell. If the situation changes, Madrid are prepared to go as high as €100 million to bring him home.
It is now a waiting game as Madrid are waiting for the right time to striker for Rodri
