Real Madrid have set their sight on Rodri from Manchester City.
The midfielder has been among the best in Europe for the past few seasons.
Rodri won the Ballon d’Or last year as he was pivotal in helping Manchester City to become the second English team after Manchester United to win the coveted treble (the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.
However, Real Madrid is facing one problem in their pursuit of Rodri, and that is his price tag.
The Spaniard has been vital to Manchester City and to Pep Guardiola’s system. At 29, he is in his prime, but he is also not getting any younger.
According to The Sun, Real Madrid are considering a £100 million (€115 million) bid to bring Rodri to Spain.
It is a massive amount for any player, especially one who is about to turn 30.
Manchester City do not want to lose him. Guardiola sees him as irreplaceable. But a massive offer could change everything.
And with that kind of figure being discussed, the City’s board could start thinking differently.
Still, Real Madrid are not in a hurry. They know this transfer will be tough to pull off.
City do not need the money, and Rodri’s contract runs until 2027. So there is no pressure on the English club to sell right now.
But if things do not go their way this summer, Madrid may simply wait.
In 2026, Rodri will enter the final year of his contract. That could change everything.
If he does not renew, Real Madrid would have the chance to sign him for free in 2027. They have done it before. They know the long game.
For now, Rodri remains a dream for the Bernabeu. But unless City budge on the price, Madrid might just hold back and wait for the perfect moment to strike.
