Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been the most talked about player in the Premier League this summer.
After 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle United, the Swedish international has rightly become one of Europe’s most sought after player.
With a market value of €120 million according to Transfermarkt, Isak will not come cheap.
Despite having already spent €308.68 million on summer transfers, Liverpool are reportedly still looking to sign Isak.
He is said to be Liverpool’s top transfer target, despite the signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitiké, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong this summer.
As Premier League champions, Liverpool are looking to build when on top.
Of course, there is no guarantee that spending this much money on players will bring success, as seen with Manchester United in recent years.
However, Liverpool are spending bid in an attempt to retain the league title.
With the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea to be stronger in the 2025/26 season and Liverpool’s squad guilty of being thin during their title winning season,
Isak would be an excellent addition to Liverpool, given Darwin Núñez’s struggles in front of goal and the unfortunate passing of Diogo Jota.
Newcastle will not want to sell, but it recently was revealed that Isak has requested to seek a move away from the club.
This would be a massive blow for the club, given the wealth of their owners.
When their Saudi investment first came to the club. the club dreamt of challenging for league titles and signing the best players.
Already hamstrung by the FFP requirements, with several players turning down moves to the club and now their best player looking to move away, this could be a summer of nightmares for Newcastle fans.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe speaks on Alexander Isak
Isak did not arrive for their preseason tour of Asia and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has recently spoken on their chances to join the squad next week.
He replied with a firm denial of this happening.
Whilst this does not guarantee his departure, it certainly fails to cement any positive update for the Magpies.
