After a positive end to last season, where top four was secured against the odds, Borussia Dortmund fans are excited for the season ahead.
Although Jamie Gittens was sold to Chelsea, they got good money, and the winger did not fit under Niko Kovac.
Meanwhile, Jobe Bellingham was signed from Sunderland, after a very impressive season in the Championship.
Elsewhere, the loans of Yan Couto and Daniel Svensson were turned into permanent deals
Now, there could be another loanee joining the German side on a permanent basis.
As per Fabrizio Romano, talks are advancing between Dortmund and Chelsea to sign Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 21-year old spent the second half of last season on loan at the club, and impressed with his performances.
Despite having three years left on his contract in West London, it is clear there is little to no pathway for him at Chelsea.
At Dortmund, he would be joining a club with a serious reputation for developing and improving young players.
Even just with English players – we have seen Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham have success at BVB.
With the latter’s aforementioned brother, Jobe, at the club – Chukwuemeka has a compatriot with him over in West Germany.
It will be very exciting to see the two develop under Kovac.
You never know, there could even be a spot in England’s World Cup squad up for grabs.
Carney and BVB, talks advancing as revealed this morning. 💛🖤⏳ https://t.co/6eCkYmL5Hf
