The future of Manchester City’s Jack Grealish has been long debated.
Grealish signed from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 for a £100 million fee.
He arrived with alot of hype, but only managed 17 goals and 23 assists in 157 appearances.
With only one less yellow than assists, a total higher than his goal tally, this is a damming indictment on his time at the club.
Whilst he had a key role in City’s treble winning campaign in 2022/23, five goals in 50 games across all competitions is not what you pay £100 million for.
Grealish has been in some ways, a victim of his surroundings. It is no secret that City manager Pep Guardiola has limited his game.
Once free to roam in midfield, Grealish has often been asked to go out wide and contribute to Pep’s high possession style of play.
He has at times looked scared to take on his man, something he was so accustomed to when with Villa.
Despite his medal collection, which includes three Premier League titles, a Champions League, FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, there is a feeling that Grealish could have done more.
Grealish is the type of player that needs to the main man, not part of a system. A player who clearly possesses the talent, he has not been short of suitors this summer.
There was paper talk going around of City legend Kevin De Bruyne wanting his new club Napoli to bring in Grealish.
One journalist has issued an update on Grealish’s future, which looks like it could remain in the UK.

According to Paul Joyce, Everton are in advancing talks with City over the availability of Grealish.
In David Moyes’ second spell as Everton manager, it appears Grealish is the man that he feels can bring the Toffees back up the Premier League table.
