Liverpool are doing everything they can to back Arne Slot this season. After winning the Premier League in his first season, the Reds are looking to defend their crown successfully.

If they can manage to win the Premier League this season, they will knock Manchester United off their perch.

That is why they are trying everything to maintain the dominance in the English top-flight league that they showed last year.

One of the main reasons for such an amazing performance for the Reds were their defence.

However, Liverpool have lost Jarell Quansah this summer as he joined Bayer Leverkusen. So, the Reds want to replace him with a centre-back who knows the Premier League.

That is why they have set their sights on a centre-back who is on the radar of many Premier League clubs lately.

However, they have now agreed on personal terms with the England international and are negotiating with his current club for a possible move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are in advanced talks with Crystal Palace for England centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 25-year-old has been a target for Newcastle United as well. But they failed to sign the Englishman and moved on to other targets.

Crystal Palace are a hard team to negotiate with. After winning the FA Cup and defeating Liverpool in the Community Shield, they will be looking to keep hold of their best players.

However, the Italian journalist reports that the Premier League champions are looking to agree on a fee with Palace in the region of £35 million.

The next few days will be crucial for the fate of the Marc Guehi to Liverpool transfer.
